why i love qb swaps
I love joining
the swaps here for a few reasons.
First it makes me stretch outside my comfort zone.
It makes me dig deeper into my creative cave. I try to do things outside of what id normally do.
sometimes i find myself spending hours on bing, google and other search engins to find something different than id normally do.
it keeps me in check on my neatness. I wouldnt dare send out something thats not up to par. I want my best attempt to represent myself.
I love meeting new quilty friends.
I would never normally get something handmade, my dgm died 25 yrs ago, and dont get home made d
gift antmore.
I love making things for others, cant see the smile, but can feel the thankyou from all the greag peoplehere.
and lastly, it helps add to my collection.
Sooooo.... why do you join swaps.

Join us for one. There is usually alot of chatter, photos and friendship going on. I love joining and have met friends. Plus, you get to have those anticipation surges, the ones you got when you were a kid, waiting for you swap in the mail.

I have done a few Doll Quilt swaps, they are so much fun, I wish I had the time to do more of them.
I will only commit to one if I know I have time to complete one in the time frame as I would hate to keep my partner waiting.
I am in Australia so don't let the distance put you off, there are plenty of swappers will to send overseas.
Doll quilts make me push the boundries, I love finding a new technique and giving it a go, and trying my best to make something special for my swap partner. I have all the doll quilts I have received on the walls of my sewing room, I love each and every one of them.
The little doll quilts are great as they don't use much fabric and are pretty cheap to post, I would encourage anyone to give them a go.

I have only been quilting for two years. I agree with everything you said lynnie. I have learned so much. Not just from actually doing the cutting and quilting, but also from all the knowledge here on the board. Members are so eager and willing to help me out in any question I have. The swaps offer new ideas to me too. Anyone that has been apprehensive about joing a swap should jump right in. You won't be sorry. I look forward to the beginning of each month to sign up for swaps.

I'm in my third swap now. I don't join a lot of them because I work full-time and my crafting time is limited. This is my second year in the Secret Santa Swap and I haven't been sent to the naughty corner yet. And I did one of the needlecase swaps earlier this year. You are right Lynnie, you get to meet people and make cool things for them that you have to work a little harder on. The swaps are lots of fun.
