Ok, I have finally finished the quilt top and am using a 100% cotton batting. The problem is I have no idea what to quilt into the larger triangles in the center of the quilt, since I know that it will have to be fairly close together. Any ideas?

I agree about going around the edges, but my problem is what to stitch inside that 1/4 inch edge. If I leave that open then after it is washed the batting will bunch and the stiches will not be close enough to keep a large clump from forming in the middle. The diagonal line is 12" across and both the 90 degree sides are 9".

Thank You! I was really nervous about the finished product because my boarder half square triangled don't have very defined points near the outer boarder.

What about a fleur-de-lis in each quarter of the center? The black and white just reminds me of clubs and aces - maybe the ace symbol?

That's a good idea! Thanks. I finally decided to just quilt an "echo" I think it's called. I'll post the finished product when it's complete. Thanks everyone for all your ideas.
