My man hands have struck again. I’ve used so many of the top notch hand quilting needles but I manage to bend them or break off the tips.
Anyone found anything new?

Do you use a thimble? I have pretty large hands, but I use a thimble and push with it. I don't have a favorite needle, i have a variety trying whatever the pro's say they use. The only ones I have stopped using are the ones that are so small I have to use bobbin thread in order to get it threaded and hard to hold. The shorter needles don't seem to bend easily because they are so short. But they are small and I am not able to get many stitches at a time.
But I thinks the main ones I use are John James and Roxanne. I do like using milliner needles for the length.

Tulip Hiroshima quilting needles are the best quilting needles I have used. I was constantly bending and sometimes breaking needles, but no bending or breaking with these needles for me. They are available in my local quilt store and on Amazon.

I have been known to use slightly bent needles.

I like my slightly bent needles best and I get annoyed with myself when I lose one of them or one breaks. Oh, they are not purchased bent, they get that way from use usually just from stitching the binding to the back of my quilts.

How quickly do you bend them too far or break them?

I find that when my needle bends, I tend to get one stitch that is off kilter. I use Richard Hemming, but I also like Bohn brand. When I started hand quilting, I used a 12 between, now with some arthritis, I have moved a size or two. I learned my quilting stitch method watching Alex Anderson.

I also love Tulip Hiroshima. They have all kinds of needles and I use many.

Thank you all. I don’t mind using bent needles but then my stitches can easily be off. I’m going to try the Hiroshima. Have not heard of them before.
