What have y'all found to be the best way to hang a quilt? My husband wants to make me something to hang a 6 foot quilt. He made some nice short narrow shelfs with bar under for tab to go through. They are very heavy though.

I just like to hang a curtain rod on the wall and use those clips with the rings to hand my quilts. Then I don't have to put a hanging sleeve on and it's really easy to swap out the quilt when I get tired of the one hanging, or I finish a new one I want to hang. You are very fortunate to have a husband that does such beautiful work, so maybe he could make you a shelf with a long closet pole and then put the rings with the clips on that.

I bought one along the same idea - I have it in my sewing room & like the extra shelf space above the quilt. If you go this route the shelf would be a great place to display a snowman collection or whatever relates to the quilt you hang.

I have a question, too, about hanging. When you use a curtain rod, how do you get it to hang flat? Mine always look wavy at the bottom--do you put another rod in the bottom?

The answer is, it doesn't hang flat, but that doesn't bother me.

We use a curtain rod or dowel put on nails and use clip on rings to hang onto the quilt. It's a bit wavy at the bottom but I don't mind that.

I like to find a dowel or curtain rod of the right diameter to slide right into a cup hook. Then the quilt lies quite close to the wall and flat.

My other method is to sew a sleeve and run an inexpensive strip of firring thorugh it(coated in polyurythene to protect the fabric). Tiny little holes drilled in the ends of the firring strip and you can use very small nails to attach to the wall, with no visible means of hanging, which is my preferred style in our house.
