I have been looking for a small light weight,(Cheap as I can get it). At WalMart they have this little purple machine that is battery and AC. adapter and foot control. 2speeds It is on sell for $39.95. Can't get no cheaper than that. It does almost as much as my big machine. I need something I can carry to my Quilting Guild every Wed. for Sit & Sew. I can pick it up with one hand, almost seems to be to lite. Has anyone out there every used or purchased one. My dream is a singer lite weight. Can't afford that at this moment. Anyways I was just wondering if I was wasting my 40 dollars if I bought one.

Don't buy it. I bought one for my grandaughter and it was noisy, slow, and I spent more time rethreading and messing with the tension then it was worth. I bought her the 3/4 size Janome and it is great. She got it in the Hello Kitty version but you can get it in the plain style. Several ladies in the guild have the Hello Kitty ones for classes. :D

You just missed a great sale on a nice light weight janome machine at hancock fabrics. It normally is sixty dollars and they put it on sale for thirty nine. They have this machine on sale many times during the year, so keep an eye out for it. They show a picture of it on thier home page in the national flyer. I like the janome brand because the feet are inexpensive and so are the bobbins. It is a little workhorse. Just might be what you are looking for.

Sears has a nice small Kenmore (made by Janome) that is excellent for classes.

Possibly consider buying a machine used. Craigslist often has listings for used sewing machines. It seems people inherit them when someone dies, they don't know how to sew, and they sell them very cheap. I

I have one of the janome hello kitty versions. Love it. I'm using it right now to make a doll, instead of taking the walking foot off my big janome because I'm also binding a quilt.

Hancock's has the mini Janome on sale for $49 online only. I don't know how this machine sews but I have seen one being used in a class before and the sewer didn't have any problems with it.

I got my DGD a Janome Sew Mini at Hancocks for 39.00 on sale. It has forward and reverse and sews straight or zig zag. She loves it. And I can take it on vacation with me because it is small and light yet sews very well.
