A friend asked me what to write on the label for a very special comfort quilt. I guess we are all at a loss of words. Thankfully, it doesn't stop our fingers.

Please, what would be apppropriate wording for a comfort quilt going to the wife and young children of a serviceman killed in Afghanistan?

Thanks for helping with this writer's block.

I don't think there are any words that really help. I might say something like:
Your loss is also a loss for all of America. We grieve with you. Please accept this quilt for a small comfort in your great loss.

In loving memory of a hero.
John Doe was a husband, a father, a son.
He died a man of courage, a brave American
who loved his country and who fought
to make the world a better place.
