I am making a trip to Munich, Salzburg, Durnstein, Vienna and Budapest soon and I was wondering if anyone has been there and knows if there are any quilt/fabric shops there?

There is a quilt shop in Munich called "Quilt und Textilkunst". The adress is Sebastiansplatz 4. You can look at their homepage www.quiltundtextilkunst.de (in German). The shop is open monday to friday 8.00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on saturday 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
I have never been there but a friend told me it is a great shop!

Have a wonderful trip to all that wonderful towns!

Have been to Saltzburg, but sorry I was not into quilting at the time. But it is a beautiful place. Enjoy

I know where there are shops in Arhus, Denmark, Kalmar, Sweden, and in Bath, England. In France the weekly marketplace is a good place to find fabrics. Wish I could help you out with the places you are going to visit. Be sure to tell us all about your adventure. Be safe and have a great time.
P.S. Fabric is MUCH more expensive in Europe unfortunately. But still it is fun to come home with something from far away.

If I were going, I'd take as much as I could to give away to quilters I'd meet. It's so $$$ there!

When I was in Ireland last fall I kept asking the Guide if there were any quilt shops in Ireland but he didn't know and said to check the stores. Well we were never "down town" enough for me to find anything though I got a couple linen "souvineer" doilies at Blarney Castle stores. I know some quilting groups have gone to Ireland but where I will never know and am sure I won't get back there so I missed my chance. Hope our tour guides are better informed this time.

DarleneW when are you going to Europe? I will be leaving Australia in May and going to Europe via the USA and visiting most of those cities too. I am interested to know about quilt shops too even if it is only to look.

There's a wonderful FABRIC shop in Salzburg just off the main square. I don't remember the name, but Salzburg is not large, and you're bound to walk by it! It has scads of fabrics that are used in dirndls - the 'national' dresses - like those worn in 'The Sound of Music.' It's expensive, but beautiful.
