WOW. Thanks for the demo...I was wondering if you could use different size strips instead of just 2 1/2". What about trying one strip 2" and another one 3" or 2 1/4 and 2 3/4"??? Going to try this...

I just have been playing with the tube quilting. Saw the instructions on the tutorial and it looked fun. I did 3 Christmas fabric. Two hints though, 1. When cutting the tube, always cut the same way or the colors will be in the wrong place and 2. Be sure to square up your squares. With these measurments I squared to 5 1/2 inches. It was fun and I did 4 blocks.

and if you can find it, the show that Alex Anderson used to host, "Simply Quilts" had a show with the author of the book, and I think the show was called "Psychedelic Tubes" I just have a hard time finding stuff on the HGTV web site, and getting a link for it. Hopefully, this one will work:

It appears to show only two of the four segments for the whole show.

Yep! This is the book I was thinking about ... and, the technique.
It is too bad that HGTV decided to go all planting and house decorating or whatever they are doing nowadays. I quit watching when Carol Duvall and Simply Quilts left ... and, they don't have much archived any more, either. If it weren't for RFD-TV, I wouldn't get any quilting shows at all! And, we have DirecTV ... for whatever that is worth, although <g> I do get Fox News, so it isn't all bad! LOL

I have a book "Totally Tubular" but haven't done anything from it yet. I think it may be different than that shown in the demo as the books patterns are more modern than traditional.

Yes, tube quilting is different from Totally Tubular ... and, I have a book "Twin Peaks" which shows how to use this technique to make a quarter-square triangle, which is where the triangles are attached at the short side of the triangle. I probably should find a picture .....

same way of setting up the fabrics, but you cut a different angle. Very interesting ...
