I went to Joann's to get some spray glue for fabric since my old can is dead, dead, dead, and they didn't have my old brand any longer. The woman suggested this one:

Has anyone used this? Will it be repositional?

Does that wash out or is it permanent? I would read the label very carefully. Would you consider using Elmer's washable school glue? It doesn't replace spray basting, but replaces pin basting and you don't have to cover the entire surface with the glue. I have done about 8 quilts this way and it is so much easier, cheaper, and less toxic than spray.

I still have my older Sullivan's can and have been using it sparingly since there was a post that they changed the formula. This name is familiar to me. They make good adhesives but never knew they went into making spray adhesives. Read the instructions thoroughly as Stitchripper mentioned.

It said on the front "fabric".

Ugh....I want my old Dritz back.....wish I hadn't waited so long.....I need it this weekend.....of course!

The description on Amazon says it is water and heat resistant, and says nothing about it washing out. I might use it for other things, but not for quilts.

the best brands I have found for quilts are 505 and Therm-o-web, both of which I have purchased online.

Loctite usually makes things for more industrial applications. Not sewing. I looked this adhesive up on their website. It said "Temporary or repositional bonding" which sounds good, but it also said "dries clear and will not yellow with age" which seems like it's not going to wash out. I'd try it on some scrap fabric first and see if it washes out and how it makes the fabric feel after it dries.

Some of the uses it lists for it would also suggest that it's a permanent glue.

I would not use it for a quilt sandwich. It does not wash out. It is repositionable and remains tacky for a long time but it is permanent and does get rather stiff. I've used it to apply fabric to boxes and other crafts and after several years it hasn't let go and it never washed out of the scraps so I ended up tossing them in the garbage.

I use 505 which does wash out. Locktite gives the impression it is permanent.
