All the time. I quickly pass along the items I don't love.

I don't decide whether I like it or not until it is completely finished. Most of the time a project that leans toward "meh" turns out really pretty in the end.

Some day I'll finish it into a quilt and start showing it to people - someone will love it. It's not truly terrible, just not to my taste, at all. It's grown on me a little bit, but not enough to make me want to finish it for myself.

Found a picture of it.
I like it. It makes me think of "Asian Modern" or "industrial Colors"

And/or the intensity of the colors after a rain-storm but there are still some clouds in the sky.

I made a butterfly quilt on gray fabric and thought it was blah and ugly, so I added fake flowers about it and it looks so much better. My 6 yr old DGD, the recipient of this quilt, wants some yo yos for flower centers now that she has seen it. I told her to snap to it, making yo yos with the template and I will sew them on. My quilt using Lepidoptera pattern by Elizabeth Hartman

that's what I do on an ugly quilt, just keep adding till I like it. Yours definitely needs a bright binding and has plenty of room for applique and/or additional designs. So "snap to it" (LOL) and you will soon love it. Personally, I think it is a great start.

Sewnoma, those grey areas are great for doing some fancy FMQ. I think it looks very modern.

See? Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. I see 'bleh' but you guys are seeing all sorts of possibilities!

The colors are probably a little off in the photo - the grey is actually an army green color. I thought it would tone down some of the nearly-neon brights, but...it doesn't thrill me. It's "OK". I WILL finish it some day. SOME day.

(I have a whole pile of tops I haven't finished into quilts yet, but we won't talk about that! LOL)

I have started quilts to donate that I wasn't real happy with. By the time I get them done I really like them. Finish up UFOs and donate them. We are not always good judges of our own work. Others may love them, especially if they are free.

If it's something that doesn't "speak" to me, I have feel no guilt donating it.

Oh my gosh yes times two! I made a top to see if I would like using the pattern and it reminds me of the creamsicle ice cream pops we ate as a child. (hated the pattern) Just finished one and am wondering why in the world I picked out that jelly roll. That top looks like Valentines Day threw up. I think it would be great if there was a category here where we could trade the top we made and don't like with a top that someone else made that they don't like
Sewnoma: I love your top!!!!!

I donate my projects (quilts, crafts, etc.) that I'm not crazy about. Someone will love it. Sometimes I like my quilts better after quilting and binding.
