I am thinking of doing a landscape quilt wallhanging of an old farm homestead. It would be great if I could see pictures of one done. Thanks for any help.

I had a student do one in a pictorial quilt class I taught. There are some nice fabrics available that look like barn board and shingles. She needed two shades of the barn board material, but there was only one available at our LQS.
She ended up tea dying one of the pieces she needed. It shaded it very well.

I know it is out there because I ran across one with the pattern this week while searching for something. Sure wish I would have bookmarked it.

Try PiecemakersCountry Store.Com. they have a calendar that
has patterns of farm buildings and some have homes on too.

Thank you for all of the suggestions. I have looked but most times they are trees and general landscape, just will have to look a little better. I have sketched out the buildings and I think I can do it. Will see.

There were a few threads not too long ago with photos they'd turned into quilted works. Sorry, I don't have the links. They were well done and hopefully those people will show up and post!

.... maybe this could be some inspiration for you, as that's what I did, went blindly into it!!! :) http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-114217-1.htm

Just go for it!!!!! Good Luck!

That is really nice, kind of a learn as you go and say oh what the heck? what do I have to lose? because actually the time costs something, but it does not take tons of fabric. The right fabric, yes. Thanks.

Yes! You don't know what you are doing wrong, so it's all right! Are you doing your own buildings? that'll be the best part of it.

While the link I gave you was done as inch blocks on a grid ... the pieces within each of those inch squares I did somewhat with a paper piece approach. You could take your photo and photocopy, then use sections to PP them. I'll look forward to your progress .... PM me anytime if you want to toss ideas around!
