Default Accuquilt Studio

How do those who have the studio set them up? Do you put them on a counter with the dies stored below, or do you store the dies somewhere else? What height is the countertop you have them on?

Thanks!

I have my studio cutter on a shelf under my cutting table and then put it up to cut with it. I store my dies on the floor in holders I purchased from accuquilt. They need to be stored up right and not flat.

I have mine on a long counter in my sewing room. The dies are next to it.

Why do they have to be stored upright, just wondering because I have sizzix dies and want to know if I'm storing them improperly

Because they're blades and shouldn't be stacked on top of each other. They will cut into each other and dull. They need to always be stored on their sides.

I have mine put up on a table just the right size for it. I have the dies and mats, etc., stored where ever I can find a place. When I reorganize I will put the dies, etc, under the table where it is at. Right now I am in a middle of projects and I can't reorganize till they are done, can't wait. There are a lot of ways to put the thing, but because it is a tad bit heavy moving it around isn't much fun. My table height is just perfect for me because I am 5'3" anything taller would be too tall. Yes the dies need to be stored on their side so nothing is stacked on them.

I have had mine for about 15 years. I have hundreds and hundreds (and hundreds) of dies. My husband and I built a counter height 4 X 14' table with storage beneath. 36" high seems to work best for me. I used to make cards, invitations, party favors etc. (hence my name PAPERPrincess), before I got into quilting. The dies are best stored on edge to minimize any damage to the blades, which actually is pretty hard to do. I've purchased boxes of dies where they were just thrown in there and there were no problems. The one thing that CAN damage your dies is not keeping the joins clean. There are tiny areas where the blades meet. threads or bits of paper can get wedged in there and if you don't clean them out they eventually will force the blades apart, distorting the shape. It's a good idea to inspect your die every time you put it away to make sure that it's clean.
Before building the table, I used milk crates to hold the dies. stored them upright.

I have a lot of the studio dies and would love to see how others are storing the long or very big dies. I have [urchased the old storing cases that they were selling for the smaller dies but they did not have for the larger ones. right now I have them just leaning against each other standing up. I would like to find a better solution.

When my husband and I moved to this home, our kitchen cart didn't work in the new kitchen. So, I decided to use it for my Studio die cutter and supplies. This is a quality cart with two drawers and two cabinets and is now in my loft/sewing area. The Studio fits perfectly on the top, my small dies on the left drawer (on their sides), odd shaped templates in the left drawer, medium sized dies in the left cabinet (on their sides in a wire rack), and odds and ends in the right cabinet. This cabinet is on wheels, so I can move it if needed, but I don't. My long dies (I have two) go on the fabric shelf in the extra bedroom. My husband put up the shelving for me and it is adjustable, so the shelves for these dies do not have very much vertical space.

I have my Studio on a sturdy table (actually I have three such DR tables) in a room dedicated for me to do crafty stuff. I have all the various sizes of cutting mats for the Studio and GO as well as adapter plates surrounding the cutter on the table. All my dies are standing upright in plastic milk crates under the table.
