Some irons recommend distilled water and some don't. It's important to read the instructions for your own iron.

When ironing plain fabric, I use a dry iron and a sink filled spray bottle, but when I use steam, I use the funnel thingie that came with my iron...and go to the sink to fill it. It's just plain not healthy to stand or sit for long periods of time and it's not like my kitchen is all that far away.

Demineralized water is different then distilled water. Demineralized water will evaporate and leave nothing behind. It is used for flushing out delicate equipment.

I have an 8 cup plastic measuring cup with a little spout that I use. If I had to use a spray bottle I'd run off.LOL

I keep a gallon bottle of distilled water handy, since we have well water. I do like that bottle with the little spout, though!

I keep a gallon of distilled water in my sewing room. As I am lazy and it just works better for me since it is upstairs.

I recently moved my ironing "station" to the bar counter in my kitchen to raise the height. Last time I filled my iron, I noticed the pitcher that I use to fill my coffee maker and used it instead. It has the best pouring spout of any pitchers that I have, so it made pouring into the small opening in the iron much easier. Now it can serve double duty!

My understanding is that distilled water is demineralized (contains virtually no minerals). Water can also be demineralized by other processes, such as deionization, which is cheaper than distillation.

I turn off the dryer while it is still damp.
