Well I did it again. I opened up my big mouth and put both feet into it as well as my sewing machine. What can I say, I have a big mouth.

I was chatting on IM with a friend and said. "So, if i was to make you a quilt since I need to make them for people, what would you like?" Sigh. You'd think I'd know better. In all honesty though I sort of knew what he would say.

As a background on him: He serves in the military. He is into the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism. If you don't know what that is, think of medieval re-enactment or Medieval Times type thing. So his request came out as:

Knights ,castles, arcers, sieges. My SCA name, and done in red black and silver (white).

Luckily (?) I have the applique book called U is for Unicorn which has medieval themes in it. It's pretty challenging though.

Wish me luck and let me know if you have any suggestions on where to stat for fabric. it will call for "rich" fabric which is why I haven't done anything else with it.

From what I have seen, the costumes range from muslin, velvet, satin, velveteens, homespun...
A wall hanging wouldn't have to be out of washable fabrics

That is true. Unfortunately my mouth struck again and when he said make it warm, i think he was thinking of one to cuddle into. of course it can still be a smaller sized one and not queen or anything. I'll ignore the fact that I know his bed is queen size (grins).

Should be interesting.

Some cotton velveteens are washable.

Some satins are also washable.
