I want to use 3 fabrics in a D9P for a baby quilt, with the finished size being about 40" x 50" (including borders). I can't even figure out how many blocks I'll need, or how much yardage! Is there a link somewhere I can refer to? Or could you wise people know this kind of stuff off the top of your head ...

We need a calculator where you could plug in the size square you want to start with, etc. Say 6" squares; 3 fabrics; finished size = yardage per fabric. Maybe someone with EQ could do it. I guess I'm not much help. Love D9P though!

Just make a couple of sample blocks, different sizes, cut and resew and measure the finished block. 3" patches would give you an 8" nine patch, which would give a 7.5 unfinished D9P block. A layout of 5x6 blocks would be about 35x42, which would still leave room for borders. Adjust up or down if you want bigger or smaller blocks. Maybe :-D :-D

Quilters Cache has some calculations, not sure if they are the ones that can help, but might be worth checking out:

Would you like to buy my Fabri Calc. An amazing little tool that can do all of this if you are smart enough to figure it out. !'m not!
