My BFF found this pattern card in Shipshewanna. It is a little wallet designed by Valori Wells Designs. I made one and my neighbors loved it and asked to make some for them but I have no idea what to charge. The finished size ,closed, is 3 in by 5 in. The pattern used sew on snaps but I like the home spun look of buttons and I added a key ring. Do you think $4 is too much or not enough? What would you sell them for?

I've made that pattern and it is a cute little wallet. I would say that if they are good friends $4 is fine. If they are just people you know I would charge more like $5 or $6. JMHO

Personally - $4 is not enough for these. For that price, I'd buy a box full. I would charge $8 - $12, depending on the economy of your area. You've put a lot of work into these - buttonhole, button, keyring. Add the cost of fabric, thread, your time to cut and assemble. Your fabrics are gorgeous and you do very nice work. Your keyrings look like they are color coordinated, too. JMHO

I consider $5 the absolute minimum charge for anything I make, of course most things I make are given as gifts, but if someone asks how much, I'm trying to get better about valuing my time and resources at a price more consistent with current market value.

I discovered a few months ago that a crocheted item I've made several of that I had charged under $10 for was being sold for $29 at a shop nearby.

So you could easily charge $8 - $10 for these and not be out of line. As maine ladybug mentioned, for very good friends you can charge less but be sure they know they're getting a special price and that you would charge more to the general public.
