I bought a Baby Lock Quest two Novembers ago--a floor model. It came with a free tune-up a year later, but everyone said to take machines to a certain Mennonite--a Bernina sales place. I made an appointment two weeks ago for today and just got back. I can't believe how quiet the machine is now!! It was NEVER this quiet from day one. I asked him to show me exactly where to oil it and explained the tension issues I get when I add just a drop. He said they oiled it with no troubles--and thinks the oil the sellers gave me is old and has gotten thick--as thick old oil tends to goof up tension until it works through. I had to adjust the tension to a higher number for good stitches--now that's all fixed!

The reason I decided to take it in is because the even feed foot broke and wouldn't stay up. That's all fixed!

It's guaranteed for 90 days--and you can believe I'll never take it anywhere else.

It actually cost a LOT more than $50 because the place is right next to The Windmill http://www.thewindmill.com/ and I bought a few things there (gifts), AND in a country sort of back roads way it's not far from my favorite Mennonite quilt shop--soooo--I found a few yards there I liked.

Happy sigh... what a fun morning.

I feel like I have a brand new machine!! :-D :-D :-D

I sure wish there was a good machine repairman in my area. The last one that had a shop locally ruined more machines then he fixed.

I know where you went to have your machine tuned-up and they are great!

Leroy is the best, isn't he? Such a nice family. I haven't been to the Windmill yet this year (actually didn't know they had opened for the season). Sounds like a lovely day.

Yes--the girl that took all the information was so sweet and it was actually his son who fixed the machine. His dad coached him at the end. :-D

I usually go to The Windmill once a year in the fall for Christmas shopping, but when I made the appt and was wondering if I should just hang out up there for the two hours--I found out it had just opened last week! I didn't think it'd be busy today--but it got very busy by the time I left. Mark turned 50 yesterday, so I found some neat things he needed. I got my dad a jar of pineapple spread for his b-day, and bought Rach some of those dip seasonings so she has something fun and yummy while in Saranac Lake this summer. Plus I found another shirt with a kayak that says "It's what I do." Rach loves my other one--so now she can have it.

Tonight I took Mark out to eat to the Waterfront Grill and surprised him by having all the kids show up! That was fun!

In between I clipped a horse--so I haven't gotten to my "new" machine yet! Supposed to rain tomorrow though. :-D

What a wonderful day. It was sure worth the $50 to get a machine that runs like new now. Have fun with all that new fabric too.
