One of my friends just did the disappearing 9 patch with the center of the 9 in red and the others in black and white prints and it was unbelievable!

I would suggest a 3 color hunters star design. Look at Deb Tucker's ruler at "180 designs "for some ideas. It's wonderfully easy with the ruler and not flowery at all. You could also just do a 2 color design, too, that is really cool and graphic.

I love making Stairway to Fortune. I did not buy the pattern. I just looked at it and made it by cutting my own strips. There are graphic prints and solids in black, white and red with the pop of aqua on the back.
