All these replies were great but no one actually answered the original question. What is the name of the block???

Oh, I know the name of that block! It's called Drunken Goose Crash with a Fall in Square Pond center.

Just a thought. You are looking for the decorative Barn hanging for your wedding, AND you want it to be a bed quilt afterwards.

Why not make the large block square as the width of your mattress and put on a temporary binding. Then, after using it as a hanging, use the quilt as you go method to add on the overhang from the sides, top and bottom of a bed quilt.

Two uses for the center block, each suited for its purpose.

Not to stir the pot, but just be aware that with each square being 24"**, and hanging down on the sides of the bed, it really isn't going to look like much on the bed, except a bunch of HUGE pieces of fabric.

(instead of 25" - math/cutting is easier w/o half inches at this size, plus you're new - I love your avatar quilt - but you don't need the added hassle of cutting bigger than your rulers)

Perhaps making the pattern fit the top of the bed, and then doing something for the sides hanging down. A queen size mattress top measures 60" x 80" across the top, so you're talking a 20" overhang on the sides.

Just mentioning it. And congratulations.
My thought also. Have it on the bed to be seen.

Sorry, but it's a lovely quilt. Have you tried looking it up on Quilterscache.com? Might be worth a try.
