Question label on quilts

Just wanted to know how many of you put labels on quilts that you donate? I am donating quilts to Vets and don't know if I should include a lavel or not.

If you're just donating the quilt as an individual, it's up to you whether you want to add a label. If you're donating through an organization, check their rules. Sometimes they even provide the labels.

Some people think that every quilt should have a label, and that it should contain every piece of information about the quilt. I don't belong to that group, but I do put labels on quilts that I give to family members. Utility quilts - not so much. And I don't advocate putting any personal information on a quilt that goes to a service organization.

I would label it. I think the recipient would be interested in knowing how, when and who created the quilt.

when i give a quilt to an organization that does not have specific rules concerning labels it simply contains fiber content/ care instructions- sometimes state & date
such as- 100% cotton - machine wash cool- tumble dry. Michigan 2012
or 100% cotton top/back 100% poly batting- machine wash-tumble dry-
i tend to always at least list fiber content just because you never know when someone will have an allergy- i do not put personal information on donation quilts- only gifts for friends & family.

I think people receiving the quilt love to have a name so I give my first name and state and date.

I give a lot of quilts to Linus and they use their own labels.

I never put my name on a donated quilt label.
If it's going thru an organization and they don't provide labels, I put the org. name and the year the quilt was made.
Sometimes I add the state, not the city though.
This is a crazy world we live in, unfortunately, and I see no reason to add to one's personal risk.

Since we really don't know for sure the life our donated quilts are going to live, I think a little information is better than none. I do like the idea of fiber content and washing instructions. but why not even an Avatar name, and city, state and year.
