If you have a local quilt guild, get in touch with them. They will know a quilt appraiser to recommend. Most appraisers do charge for their services, but they will provide you with an accurate description and appraisal of your quilt that you can use for insurance purposes. Also sometimes, large quilt shows bring in a quilt appraiser for the duration of the show who will do an on site appraisal.
