Go for the fabric. The cost has gone up and just to know that you can love it and get it!!! Make the quilt you always wanted to do but stopped because you felt , maybe next time, have fun doing something for you!

Hi There,
I have only bought 12 kit in many years. I think that they are too $$$$$. Make your own kit.
How fun to go fabric shopping with your bonus. Let us know what you did and please post pix of your fabric. Isn't it great to have that kind of delima in todays age! Happy hunting.
My husband bought me the most beautiful fabric for Valentines day. I had looked at several days before and I was tickled he payed attention to my drooling!
Have a warm day,
alaskasunshine :)

How about some batting and thread- stuff you never can have enough of? And a splurge of some fabric. I say- watch out connecting threads- here she comes!

(Oh, Joann's online- get a bolt of batting- I got mine for like $165.00 before Christmas.) I figure I will get 20 quilts out of it. About 1 years worth. :)

Have fun spending it!!!!!

Barb
Question: WHERE DO YOU [[[[[[STORE]]]]]] all that batting?????

How in the world do you get your DH to go into the fabric store with you? Mine sits in the car listening to the radio while I go into the shop. :?

My husband has taken me to fabric stores and wants to know "How long will you be"now is that just funny, who knows how long it takes to get inspired for another project so, he walks thru, goes to the car, reads , looks at his watch, see me come out smiling & happy, makes for a great day for both of us. LOL P.S. all the quilts that keep us warm all winter is the out come of being the lucky guy married to a quilter

We have been married for 32 years and 10 years ago I said to my husband, "you know honey I hunt with you, hike with you, I fish with you, I golf with you, What do you do with me?" I was really nice, not grumpy at all, just wondering. He pondered and said, "what would you like me to do with you?" I would like for you to quilt with me...you are my best friend, but you don't do my favorite hobby with me. Quickly he said when I get home I will make a quilt! ok? Well I scurried and made a quilt from Mc Calls quilting. It was called "The Smith House". I made it and got the fabric together for him to make one too. Well when he came home 1 1/2 weeks later. I had all his fabric in a pile and he was in shock.OmG he thought! He was so cute! He sat right down and made a beautiful quilt he cut and sewed and took several days to quilt. He got it all made so quick and I only had to rip a few times. Well he took it and put it in a zip lock and for about 8 or 9 years it sat. He was exhausted and said he had no idea quilting was such hard work! He had made the borders and just needed to be put on. He didn't want to do the pieced border but I said that's what make this quilt so pretty PLEASE do it like it shows HONEY!Finally it was time for our 30th anniversary. He asked if I knew where it was and I ran upstairs and got it and he said I want to finish it for you for our anniversary. I almost fell over!!!!!!! He did finish it and like a guy would do he said let's get it to a quilter tonight...we did. He got it back and looked at the magazine and I showed him how to hand sew the binding on and he sat for 3 nights sewing the back on by hand. I sat across the living room bewildered & thrilled. He finished it and gave it to me for our anniversary. It is on our bed now. I will ask him to help me with getting a picture posted!!! How do I do that?

So that is how I got my husband to care about quilting. In all honesty he has always gone with me to fabric shop. But I also have always gone with hin to gun shows and bought what he was looking for. It goes two ways!

Have a warm day...& Happy fabric shopping. Maybe ask your husband to go with you after a romantic dinner first! oooh la la la! Heck skip the fabric and get a couples massage...You gotta celebrate your job back!!!

Gail- it stands in the closet. I just slide it out, roll off what I need and slide it back into the closet. Sometimes as I'm trying to figure out what to do I stand in front of it and stroke it. It's so soft.

It looks cool along side the tubs of fabric. And it's a bit of a testament to my "saving"- I couldn't buy it unless I had the cash to back it up so it shows me if I want something bad enough I can do it.
