Hello, I am done the top for my fairy quilt and now I am having trouble chosing a backing. If I go for a soft print, is there any chance you will see it through the top? Should I stick with a soild white for the back? I haven't worked with this much white before. When I hold it up to the light, you can see the design, so i am a little worried how it will finish. Thank you for any suggestions!!

I would go with a soft pastel. Not likely to show through, and gives the quilt a little more depth.

You could use a good quality white muslin for the back.

Are you going to hang the quilt in front of a light? Lay it down on the bed and see if you can see the backing.

I know just what you mean about see-through. On my Mother's Grandmother's Flower Garden, she connected her blocks with a thin white fabric. I used lightweight batting, and a pure white back, a Cotton Sateen. The result is that the entire quilt is see-through when held against a light. If I had it to do over again, I would select a heavier-weight backing of white, maybe with a white-on-white texture.

Never thought about the threads, thank you. I have a white on white cotton and a soft cloudy pink, I am hoping the pink will work better because it is a little heavier cotton..or at least feels heavier. The quilt is 46*60 so I will need to piece the back, with this size a middle seam should work...or would you peice 3 horizontally for this small of a quilt?
