Another vote for black here. Don't think I'd consider it ugly at all, you have done a beautiful job.

I'd go for the black and leave it at that. What a huge amount of work for an"ugly"! I don't get the ugly at all. It is a beautiful quilt. Keep the border and binding simple so as to not distract from the overall beauty.

I vote what Cris said - the small white border would be perfect to setoff everything.
