That is an amazing quilt. And I was going to ask what block/pattern that was, but someone else said Karen Stones McCommas Beauty, so now I know.

What is weird is that Quiltville just posted photos of antique "Whig's Defeat" quilts in her blog today, and McCommas Beauty seems to be a modern version of that block (which also blew me away).

Trapunto may be overkill ... definitely "audition" it on a practice block or two, and also waiting to enter it for next year is probably wise - three weeks to quilt and bind may be rushing things (I know it would be for me, but I also work fulltime, so my quilting time is limited). better to take your time and create a blue-ribbon masterwork than to rush and miss by an inch.

If you have graphics or quilting software, you can audition designs on your computer. Feathers might be just the thing, or maybe there's something else unexpected that you will think of.

I can't wait to see the finished product, and please let us know where and when you're showing it.

Your quilt is really beautiful. I would have no idea as how to quilt it. Your work is really nice,

 Gorgeous quilt top! This definitely deserves to be finished and entered in a show! You've had a lot of great suggestions for quilting. I can't wait to see it when you complete it!!

Beautiful quilt and piecing. Have you started quilting it yet or made any decisions on your path? Sometimes I find that is the hardest part of the whole process.

I really want to learn to feather too.....now to just practice!

That is why it is still unquilted I pull it out and the undecision comes again.
I haven't done actual feather quilting yet on my long arm but have been practicing them and they are really starting to come together.
IMHO, with all the points in the quilt (which is GORGEOUS, by the way!), the curves in the feathers would help 'settle them down,' if that makes sense :)

This is ALSO VERY STUNNING. I cannot imagine the amount of hours it took to create this quilt. Well done.
