I very quick quilt is by Villa Rosa patterns called Stars and Stripes. It makes a great “mans quilt” and goes together easily as the blocks are 12.5 inches. It takes 8 fat quarters and 1 and a quarter of background fabric and I think a yard for the border. I have always used my left overs for the binding. I have made several of these for Quilts of Valor. I made one of these quilts for my husbands nephew for graduation.

You are getting lots of great ideas. I used a pattern titled ‘The Man Quilt’ from Craftsy. My husband approved of the pattern and he usually says ‘quilts are always made for women - you know, they are too phoophy for a man’. Son loved it and that’s fairly hard to do! I downloaded the pattern and it made up very quickly.

Any of the basic blocks (4p, D9p, Churn Dash, etc) in chocolate, warm blues or the logos and colors of a sports team. I find that the boys/men are some of the most appreciative recipients of quilts. They understand the work, time and thought put into the gift. So any colors or styles will be loved.

This would be nice with SW colors too.

Not that you really need a pattern for this, but it was in the Spring 2016 Quilty magazine. The blocks are 6"X3" finished.

The pattern is available here: Flannel Bricks Pattern

Checkerboard quilt, two fabrics, sewing can be done in strips. I've done the checkerboard with 6" strips, they come out nice. Add a small border and a larger border to frame it, if you want and if you have time.

Happy sewing!

Check out quilt # 13 on this page:https://www.quiltedtwins.com/new-blo...en-gnssj-ct9w5 It looks easy and fast, and it looks like a great man's quilt! And these quilt patterns are free from this designer. She used to be an active member of this QB, but her blog and sewing have kept her busy lately. I love her designs!
