Here's a 6-point star but the angle will be different from an 8-point star.
The 6-point will have 60degree angle and the 8-point has 45 degree angle.

Not sure how you would make this fit.

For a six pointed star, you'll need to cut 60 degree diamonds instead of 45 degrees.

If you really want the Lone Star, can you cut smaller 45degree diamonds instead?

How many diamonds are in each section, and what size does the pattern they should be cut?

And how much of each fabric do you have?

Or you could piece 4 of the diamonds, then cut 4 large diamonds from a contrasting color and alternate pieced & unpieced diamonds.
There probably is not enough fabric to recut the pieces to the proper angle to make a 6 point star.

There are 6 pointed stars but you can not use 45°*diamonds to make them.
