I purchased a pencil from LQS and the owner said she had never had any trouble getting the marks out. Well guess what? I have used it and washed the quilt top and the pencil marks to not come out.
Any ideas? HELP

did you test first? when you washed, did you use detergent? sometimes detergent sets marks so you always wash in plain water.
try soaking the quilt in OxiClean and rubbing the marks also. should work. it took out pencil two yrs old for me.

Take a stain stick (or spray) and spray the marks thoroughly. Then take a soft toothbrush and gently brush the marks in all directions. Let that sit for at least 30 minutes (the longer the better), then wash with a GOOD liquid detergent. I personally like the old Wisk. It's gotten out dried shellac, dried blood and all sorts of stuff for me in the past. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

I had the same type of problem with the sewline pencil for marking quilts. The white and the yellow lead were fine, then I used the green. What a disaster! I tried everything to get it out and never did. Of course it was on a very light quilt so it bugs me no end!!
What type of marker were you using?
OH, and I had tested it before using it to mark the whole quilt, but it came off then, go figure...

I used a stain stick and it removed the color from my comforter.

I used a stain stick on a bed spread - it removed the stains - and the color from the fabric.

It s a Sewline Fabric pencil. Yes I tested it and on the material that the marks will not come out. It says on the package that the marks will come out with the eraser (on pencil) or a damp cloth. Well guess what? They don't.
