Can anyone help me! Give me ideas???? I'm trying to quilt a baby quilt on my Pfaff GrandQuilter - on a GraceFrame......The thread keeps breaking! I've not had trouble with this kind of thread before...it's always the top thread that breaks, too......any ideas what to look for?

Threaded wrong, needle in wrong, rough spot on foot or throat plate, wrong tension (either bobbin or top thread), quilt too tight in frame or too high off machine bed. Any of these could make your thread break--along with other things. Good luck figuring it out!

I'd say loosen the tension on the top & work back from there. If you get loops on the bottom, you know it's too loose & can simply tighten your top tension in small increments.

That usually works for me. I know how frustrating it is!!

If you have it on a mid arm frame. Make sure your not rolling tension when reaching back to cut the thread.
Check top tension wheel. Watch that thread guide the first over spool is, over spool, and that thread coming off spool is not getting stuck on the bottom, for some reason I ended up with a spool that did this. Yep Grrrr
Now why would I know this...

Also, check your needle. I had been sewing some denim, so I was using a different needle. Then I switched back to piecing cotton, and my thread kept breaking. Realized it was the wrong needle, switched it out, and the problem was fixed!

I recently had a problem with thread breaking every 7 to 8 inches sometimes, finally took it in to be repaired and the repairman took out the bobbin case and polished it with a jewlers cloth and said I had a nick in the case. Probably from breaking a needle. Works fine now, but frustrating.

I had the same problem... new needle and re-threading solved it for me!
