if you are not confident with free motion, then I would quilt in ditch. free motion takes practice and confidence to be satisfactory to you and since this is a special quilt, my suggestion is not practice your free motion on it. I don't believe those who receive it would apprecviate it any more.

you can do a puzzle design all over or meandering they both are good because if you lose your place u just keep going and it doesn't show good for new to fmq just play music and dance with your hands

the point is have fun

Wonderful job on the quilt. I would just do a large stippling all over the quilt. Practice first!!! Your quilt is gorgeous, so whatever you do, it is going to look great.

OMG I can't believe you are a beginner. Your quilt is beautiful. I'm more of a hand quilter so I'll leave the ideas on machine quilting to the gals who know much more than I do about it. I just wanted to compliment you on your work.

Some lucky baby! An all over pattern will look good and won't interfere with your design. I would not stipple or other really small quilting as it might make the quilt a bit stiff; you want to keep it soft. Lovely quilt.
