I'm thinking seriously about buying a George but would like to hear your comments like getting a large quilt through it? Or any others

I don't know anyone that has one. I have only seen them at quilt shows.

Caryl Bryer Fallert uses a George and is a multi-award winning quilter so am sure it is a great machine. I would check into the HQ Sit Down Sixteen myself because I like the way you are sitting with the machine in a position like on a long arm. Besides the HQ with the table is around $4000, a lot less expensive than the George. Nolting also has a sit down system. I think it is called the Queen Bee or something.

When I was looking at longarms, I test drove George and the HQ Sweet Sixteen. I liked the HQ Sweet Sixteen better than the George because of the position that you quilt with, it was quieter and seemed smoother and the price was alot better. However, that being said, I went with the Tin Lizzie DLS on a frame because it gave more bang for the buck. She was about the same price as the George, but, opened a whole new world of possibilities. My advice would be to road test each machine, do lots of research on each machine and then you would be able to make a educated decision. Good luck and have fun...it can be a bit overwhelming. BTW, I love your avatar quilt.

I checked out the HP Sweet 16 sit down machine and noticed the table is small. This would cause lots of drag on the quilt. I went on their website that included lots of videos but they only used 12" square practice pieces. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
