Help with using men's ties
#1
I have 50 of my dad's ties and want to make 5 different "small memento things" for my mom and sisters. I think I know what I'm going to make (dresden pillow and hangings, crazy quilt hanging, and victorian box), and I have found several good tutorials, but I'd like general input from the geniuses on this board. I've never worked with silk before - should I interface? --- and do you go all the way to the edge, which would be much easier. Any advice out there? Please help.

I have a whole tub of ties that I want to make a quilt out of also and haven't done anything with them yet. LOL So really can't give too much advice on it. I did purchase a book "Daddy's Ties", but haven't read that yet either! LOL Getting prepared!! :-D
One thing I do know though is when sewing with silk - use some sort of tissue paper (kleenex, toilet paper, etc) to sew over as silk is a slippery little bugger and it'll help with the feeding of it.
