I have seen but now can't find a pattern for an American flag that is waving but is kind of rustic looking. I have seen it on quilting shows. It is done in strips and the strips are of different widths and then shifted to make the flag look like it is waving. Most of the time in stead of using bright material they use dull materials for a more rustic look. I am looking for a free pattern. I know it's out there.

Hi and welcome to the board from Iowa. You might try going to SEARCH above and putting in American Flag. That should give you many options.

Try your local library. They may have quilting books or magazines that you can borrow.

Patterns here:
http://www.trudystreasures.com/usa.html

I made the USA and Texas flags. They are easier than they look.

Edited to say: Sorry. I just read that you are looking for free patterns.
