I'm becoming addicted to being on here!!! I've learned so much since... well, yesterday! hehe. Thanks all for the suggestions.
I have another question... what about getting a name embroidered on my quilt? Do I have that done before I sew my strips together, or after?
What about where to take it? Has anyone used EmbroidMe? They seem a little spendy, but maybe I just don't know how much it costs. I'm in the Twin City area in MN, are there other shops that I should look for?

If you have it embroidered on your fabric before you piece it it may be easier. There are people here on the board who sell embroidery work. You could put an post in Members/Buy/Sell/Trade section and ask them what they would charge to embroider on a piece of fabric that you would send them.
If you do it after the quilt top is pieced, it is harder to get onto the machine. If you do it on a finished quilt, the embroidery would show on the back, and that may not be a look you want. :D
