Hi everyone. I am new.
Was wondering if anyone knows of a good online DISCOUNT quilting fabric retailer.
I want to buy fabric to keep quilting but it's so expensive.
Post links if you got em.
Thanks.

Welcome to the Board Beetle, from firey SoCal.
I usually check the 'close out' sections of any of the online stores & have been able to get some great deals. One of my faves is www.hancocks-paducah.com - just remember that they (and many others) price by the half-yard.

Hi Beetle, welcome from Texas. I usually buy my material at Joanns with coupons or WalMart. Sometimes I buy online at various sites when they have closeouts

A lot of the quilters here shop at http://www.thousandsofbolts.com/ I haven't used them yet but have perused the site many times, they have a nice selection. There is also www.connectingthreads.com. They have kits and patters all from their fabric. Those are the two off of the top of my head that have lower priced fabric by the yard.

This hobby is an expensive one. You alwys need to buy something. It is not cheap to make a quilt.

Check out your local thrift stores or garage sales and craigs list for fabric. Some quilt shops have clearance sales at the end ofthe year and have fabric for $4 a yard. Buy 99 cent Fat Q's from Joann's use coupons for them and Hancock fabrics.

Buy when you see a sale and build up your stash!!!!

5bucksayard.com has great prices with lots under $5.

Ebay has some great bargains, but be prepared to be disappointed at times - just because something is 100% cotten does not mean it is suitable for quilts - ask the vendor or you could end up with upholstery or thin fabric.

Hello and another welcome from Smokey Southern California. I get most of my "sale" fabrics locally when my LQS and other stores have some great sales.

www.connectingthreads.com

5.96 a yard and their fabrics coordinate so beautifully so you don't have to wonder if what you're buying will "go together"!!
