I'm trying to make a braided table runner but it just went haywire and I'm upset.
I have added three sides but the fourth isn't going well at all. I think I may have made a mistake way back in the beginning on the diamond points. I don't think I'm very good with the rotary cutter and measuring. I'm not sure I have what it takes to start over. :(
A tutorial video on this might have helped me but I can't find one.
Should have tried a baby quilt for my first try, squares might be easier.????? :cry:

We have all had those days. Don't give up. Maybe set it aside and do another type of quilt then come back to it and see what you can do to fix it or another way to use the fabric. Remember you are learning. Give yourself a break.

Trust me I'm and expert at unsewing!:)

I have always found that if I'm having a problem with a quilt that I have never made before, it helps to put it away, work on something that is a little easier, and do some research and learning... not just about the quilt that I was having problems with, but quilting in general. Usually, something will "click" and I will figure out what I need to do and can go back to that problem quilt. Or if that doesn't happen, I will change what I was doing.. cut it up for different blocks, use it for a scrap quilt or something else.. rather than just let it sit there unfinished for years on end.

If this is a first project, I tend to agree with the others. Put it aside and work on something easier. Then go back to it.

Don't be afraid to post pictures. There are a LOT of very helpful people on this board. Everyone will be glad to help!

Don't beat yourself up .... no one is perfect, and quilting is always a learning experience.

I put the band on a chemo turban inside out. It's really hard to rip out knits, so I have it staring at me all the time. I doubt I have as much time invested as you, though. Or maybe your project is for a gift and you have a time crunch. But if not, I agree with the rest - set it aside for another time or another project. Waiting until you are not as upset truly makes a positive difference!! Believe me, the turban is not my 1st mistake, nor will it be my last.
