Default Homespun Fabric

I just bought a pattern, and the fabric requirements said to use Homespun black fabric. Does anyone know what's so different about this fabric than any other black fabric?

Yes I know about homespun. It has a looser weave and ravels lot. It's a country style fabric, very homey and cute to look at. It has a softer texture because it's not woven as tightly.

It sounds like I shouldn't use this for this quilt. It's a stained glass design, and the black 'leading' is supposed to be 1.5 inch black homespun strips. That would probably not be good if it's a loose weave. Any suggestions?

If the rest of the quilt is in homespuns then I woud use it. If not, I would find a good quality black Kona?cotton fabric instead.

Agree 100%. No idea why they would have recommended homespuns for the leading.

I love Homespuns. Several times Moda has come out with a fabric line and the homespun line to go with it. I have made several quilts using the cottons and the homespuns together. I love them!

Why not use Clover narrow bias tape for the leading? Purchased on rolls, made on the bias, it's perfect for this application.

Because it is a stained glass look, I think I would NOT use the homespun.
