fons and Porter say there is no right or wrong side to Batiks

because batiks are dye all the way through, there is no right or wrong side only an aesthetic side, the one most appealing to you.

Yup, what they said.

A hint for you for next time, decide which side you like best and mark the back side every few inches with chalk pencil BEFORE you cut and you won't have to examine each piece as you get to it in order to be consistent.

It it's that hard to tell it probably doesn't matter which side you use. Just choose the side you like best.

the side you like better depending on the square. that is one of the reasons i love batiks. no oops I sewed the wrong side up.

If its a TRUE batik it really doesn't matter.
