Default My first guild meeting

I've been wanting to join a guild for several months. Went on line and found some in my county but all met at night. I'm a morning person so by evening, I'm ready to call it a day. Finally, decided to look for one in the next county. Found 2 that met at night and 1 that met in the mornings. I looked up the web site for the morning one and liked what I saw. Small guild of about 25, meet every 1st Mon for the Guild meeting and other Wed during the month for sewing charity quilts, etc. Went yesterday morning and was welcomed with open arms. Don't think there was a single lady who didn't come up to me and introduce herself. A nice surprise was that they were having a 4th of July pot-luck lunch following the meeting. Even nicer since I got to spend some extra time with them. Discovered one lady who lives less than 5 miles from me. Can't wait to meet with them on the 17th to work on charity quilts. I've always been a little "leery" of Guilds because so many of you have had negative experiences but this one seems to be a "jewel".

You are one lucky lady. I sometimes think the day guilds are friendlier. Maybe because they are morning people too. LOL Its sounds like your going to have a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!

So glad you had a good experience. Guilds can add so much to your quilting life, in terms of friendships, outings, learning opportunities, and much more.

Congratulations on finding a great quilt guild.
Fortunately for me, I belong to two guilds both meeting during the day. Great ladies to be around and so much talent. I am on the lower end of the talent scale but try to stay at the top of my game in the laughter group.

Guild life has lots to offer. Love the Show and Tell as well as suggestions on easier ways to do things. This board has lots to offer also. It is so nice to appreciate other peoples creative ideas. Have fun and hugs

How wonderful for you. I too am a morning person and can't find a guild near me that meets in the daytime. I do have a quilting group that I go to though that is daytime. Just not a guild!!

I'm so glad you like your guild group. I love my guilds. I belong to three guilds. Two are in the morning and one at night. The night time guild always seems rushed to me. The day time guilds we have all day. The day guild has much happier people!

How wonderful to find a guild to fit you. It doesn't always work that way, I am so glad that it did for you. Gina
