Default Best embroidery thread?

After seeing the beautiful embroidery work some of you put into your quilts, I became inspired to try my hand at machine embroidery. I found a Brother PE 770 on ebay as an open box for less than $600! It has never been used as all it's pieces are still in plastic and taped in place. I saw that Joanns has all their thread 50% off on Black Friday and was wondering if Sulky is still considered a good brand of embroidery thread to use. I'm sure like all things quilters will have a dozen opinions on which is the best and where is the best place to find it, but I would love some guidance. Thanks in advance.

I use Sulky and Maderia embroidery thread. I have used others but these 2 are my favorites.

Enjoy your machine.

I use Floriani and Isacord. Like them both. The Floriani is a little shinier and sometimes shows more brilliantly.

I feel that you do get better performance from better thread. I love Madeira or Robison Anton on my machine - and yes I do have some other threads but feel that the look and shine is better from these two as stitched on my machine.

It also depends on your machine. My recommendation is that you try some of each brand - and see what you like and see what you machine "likes".

I've used Madeira, ARC and Sulky. I've never had one that I didn't like yet. I bet you're excited having an embroidery machine!

I like Isacord thread. It does not tear so easy when I embroider on my Bernina Artista 185.

I also have a Brother embrodery machine SE350 amd I was told that Robison Anton works best with the Brother machines. That is the only brand I've tried. Good luck.

I like Isacord best, but I have used Sulky and Madeira as well. Isacord just seems stronger.

I've used many brands and found different ways to make my machine play nice with the different brands. I found that I've had the most trouble with black breaking, regardless of brand. Rayon is shiniest but if it is going to be bleached you should use polyester. Have fun

I also have a Brothers Embroidery machine Quattro. I was advised NOT to use Sulky threads as they cause a lot of breakage and fuzz in your machine. I use Maderia, Hemmingworth, Robinson Anton or Florini, depending on what I plan to do with it. Have Fun
