Does anyone have any idea how many different fabric colorways to use for the D9P. I am planning to use blacks, whites, and reds. Thanks

I have used as few as three fabrics and as many as ten.
They are so much fun to make. Its a fast way to make a charity quilt.

This is a Disappearing Nine Patch quilt I did with scraps I won on Ebay. It is definitaly scrapy! But it turned out nice. I gave this one to one of my niece's friends and she just loved it. I thought she was going to cry. All pieces are different and I did the FMQ myself on it. It was the best size to do the FMQg on it.

It all depends on how you want to arrange your colors and how many fabrics you want to use.

    Here is the block layout:
    1 2 3
    4 5 6
    7 8 9
My last one, all the 5's were a mottled red
    2, 4, 6, 8 were a light yellow
    1, 3, 7, 9 were I Spy fabrics

Do you want to do each block in a different colorway as far as lights and darks in your blacks? It's a fun one to do. The results are endless. Play with it until you see what you want.

You could make all the centers the same color (maybe red or black) and do 2, 4, 6, 8 lights and 1, 3, 7, 9 darker colors, or reverse the lights and darks. Maybe play with it on some graph paper.

I'm doing one right now in B&W. I have 4 differen't blacks and whites and using the red for the center. Works out just fine with 5.

I love the idea of a black, white and red D9P. They make up so nice. I can't wait to see yours.
