I have a the largest bedroom as my sewing room. I fortunate to have a space like this and even had it carpeted when we replaced carpet in the house. My feet stay so cold decided the extra time cleaning would be worth it. I do try really hard to trim over a trash can!

I do,I do, it is fabulous. I used to be in the family room downstairs. Then when my daughter and her two children moved out I got one of the bedrooms for my sewing room my husband custom built my closet with lots of cubbies and shelves for my stash, that keeps growing now that I have a place for it. We painted the room yellow and white with yellow carpet so it is bright and sunny (not everyone's taste). Then to top it off I got a new sewing cabinet where my quilts don't have to drag on the floor. I feel like Queen For A Day, it has been so much fun, my little sunny haven. I hope you can find a place where you can make your own haven, it doesn't have to be a room, but somewhere where you can just be with your machine and your thoughts and creativity.

I do not have a room to myself, but I have a space at the far end of our great room which measures 20x40 feet. I have about 1/4 of that. My end has the 6' wide x 12' long raised hearth which I am alway's stumbling on, so we intend to remove that this winter or next spring. I am afraid of falling the one measley step and breaking some bones. I feel cramped, but it works, I have the picture window to watch the critters and such, I can watch tv if I want, and when I sew after bedtime, nobody hears me in my corner.

We bought this house because the bedroom up stairs was a large L-shape. So part is set up as guest room and the area by the closets are my sewing space. We set one of the closets up with shelves to store my sewing and crafts. I also have an old Hoosier cabinet I use as my sewing box. It holds all my notions, thread and one of my sewing machines. I do love my space. I had not ever set up a space so devoted to my sewing.
