The downside to cleaning/organizing is I put fabric "away" then can't find it. Then I have to go through all the bins & drawers looking for it because I can't remember which group I put it with. I do vacuum to minimize the debris collected when I'm working with the larger pieces. There's no help for the cat fur. It's pervasive.

Joe's mom..."Creative people tend to be messier" That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

I am with Moonrise...clean it? That won't happen! Life is too short to spend my time cleaning!

Hey joe'smom, I will fly you here to clean and straighten it up.
If I cleaned it, there would never be time to sew. I do straighten and rearrange when guests come and we put a "pack 'n' play" in there. But the latest little one is WAY TO ADVENTURESOME to leave alone even for a nap. He would be into EVERYTHING and climbing on EVERYTHING! And poking pins into ??? It will be interesting this summer.

Funny, I was vacuuming in the sewing room this morning and seeing how many stacks are now gone -- I've been using that fabric to make quilts! I'm getting the bug to get in there and dig deep now that my sewing for the quilt show is pretty much done.

I have to clean up my sewing studio daily. I put everything away in drawers or project boxes before leaving the room. I have to keep all thread, pin cushions, rotary cutters and everything else put away when I am not sewing. I Swiffer the hardwood floor to make sure I don't miss any pins. We have a very curious kitten and I don't want her to get hurt. Quilt pieces left out tend to become toys to scoot across the hardwood floor . . . Ask me how I know. She is adorable, but not very helpful! lol

Apparently never according to how it looks right now. I can't even think in there. I have got to clean and reorganize and put things away before I can start anything new.

I clean my sewing room usually after a project is done. That way I can find what I'm looking for for the next idea. haha

Well, I cleaned some in there today for the first time in a long time! This morning my husband had to go out the window that my machine sits in front of to clean off the roof of the screened porch below. I have a sewing table that breaks down into smaller compartments, so while it was smaller and he was out the window, I vacuumed and picked up and cleaned the Windows (both sides). When he was done (I was thankful he didn't fall off the roof!), he hung a new bulletin board near my machine so I can put up some nice inspirational things to enjoy. It does feel good to have that done, but other areas still need some work. I would rather sew than clean. But I do like it clean and organized. Someday, maybe!

This is one reason I have a sewing room with a door on it. When I have had enough for the time being I can get up and just shut the door behind me. I use to have to put everything away and tidy up so no one could see the mess .. I clean up when I feel it is stopping my creative juices from flowing. ...
