This is a HEX quilt that was made after a "2 inch strip exchange". Does anyone know where I can find detailed instructions? It looks like there is an inner hex and an outer hex....

OK, This actually should be pretty easy. It's basically the same process you would use for a OBW. you take two 2 1/2 inch strips and sew them together. Then cut 6 60 degree triangles. the triangles are cut reversed, so 3 will have light tips and 3 will have dark tips. Sew the 2 pairs of 3 triangles together, lay the hexes out, then sew into strips.

Skip thru the instructions till you get to the part where the strips are cut into 60 degree triangles.
Make sure you don't join the 2 halves of the Hexagon! it will make it so much easier to construct.

Very effective 2 inch strip quilt. Paperprincess is correct, 2 strips together and cut with a 60º ruler for 6 wedges to put together.

A 60 degree triangle ruler will make it easier. Simply sew a dark and light strip together and cut your triangles with half having light strip on top and half on bottom. The link provided gives excellent directions but for wider strip sets. With 2" strips your triangles will be smaller because your unfinished strip sets will only measure 3 1/2 wide instead of the 4 1/2 described in the link.

Thanks for showing us this quilt! I have a few jelly rolls I didn't quite know what to do with and this is a great idea.

There is also a book, The Sizzling Sixties, that shows how to make this quilt and several others from 2-strip pairs cut into triangles and sewn back together.

Oh, it's wonderful! Hope you find a pattern and that you will pass it along. 'course I've replied before I've looked at all the posts about it - it just demanded comment. So maybe someone has already told us.

I am very excited! I have searched for days for a pattern for my oldest daughter's birthday quilt. It's been difficult because this one is a quilter. I think I just found it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
