Hi - I have just about finished a baby quilt (I did not prewash the fabric) and I found this wonderfully soft double thick cudle fabric that would be a nice backing... I am nervous as it is polyester (for my cotton quilt) and I wondered if anyone had done this? I have used cotton flannel without issue. Thank you.

Have often done it and it will work just fine. Pin lots, use your walking foot and try not to pull it as you quilt as it does stretch. You may or may not want to use batting as it probably is thick and warm enough without. It will wash and wear well and the baby will love it.

There are a number of posts on QB of people who have used fleece and Minky on the back of their cotton quilts. You might be able to read about their experiences if you search out some of those threads. The soft fabrics are wonderful to touch but sometimes not so great to sew but pin well and use a walking foot. Pull on your yardage to see which way stretches more and use that way for the width so you will have fewer problems. I would suggest leaving out the batt because it will be easier and it will be warm enough without it. I say go for it and you can give us an update on how you make out.

many many times- they make wonderful, soft, fluffy cozy quilts- just be careful to not stretch the backing when basting/quilting- smooth it-don't stretch it. it quilts up beautifully- batting is optional- i've made them with & without batting- both ways are still great- one just fluffier/thicker than the other.

I agree with the others and I love the lime green! But of course, the hungry catapillar might eat the lime green backing! ha-ha. Good luck.
