Too pretty to cut up but would use applique paper backing and applique them to a foundation fabric.

I really like the work already done. I think the idea of table runners is a great idea. I don't think you would have to hand applique them, but I would sew them to a background fabric and use it as a great throw.

I agree with AlienQuilter - hers was also my first thought....blanket stitch individually - using black to show or med gray/brown to not show so much -- to a nice background fabric - scattering them around - it would have a primative look - and would preserve what was obviously someones very earnest efforts in making these.

I agree with jillaine. I hope you don't 'cut them up.' Consider this an homage to the original maker. She'd be so proud! Take the curved piecing challenge! Plz keep us posted.

I have some old blocks like those. The problem for me is that the fabric is quite vintage and definitely not the quality of today's fabrics even though I love them. I know that they will fray quite easily and will not stand up to a lot of use. To tell the truth I am thinking about creating a piece of wall art with them to put in a frame for my sewing room. Or if I was going to make a quilt I would not take the time to hand applique them - but rather machine applique them onto a solid background. Piecing is just too labor intensive.

Im not sure of the size, but the center looks like the template you have to cut a double wedding ring quilt. I made a double wedding ring quilt and am working on another top which I just about have finished the top. It is shaped just like it.
I would get that double wedding ring template to finish it. I got mine at amazon but it is unavailable now but here is another one. http://softexpressions.com/software/...s/mmDblWed.php
softexpressions.com has been real good about sending things right away.

Please don't cut them up! They would be gorgeous, just as you thve them laid out, appliqued on blocks. The different sizes would be less noticeable, especially if you put a small sashing on it. Love the pieces, though.

The blocks are wonderful and interesting! Go modern and let them "fall" or "flow" down the quilt using applique. Here's a link that will give you an idea of what I'm talking about...and have them move to the back of the quilt in a circle. http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransso...-garlands.html
