Even a panto in almost any design would work because of the neutrality of the quilt pattern, so in my opinion, you have lots of choices. The quilt is very pretty, love the colors.
I was already thinking along these lines, but trying to figure out what I could do with a walking foot that would be circular or swirly. Thanks so much for your suggestions and compliments.

I agree with just how difficult SITD can be. That's why I use the Serpentine stitch a lot instead; much more forgiving, especially with my mature eyes!

There is a new walking foot by Viking but it also fits other machines; it's called an interchangeable walking foot. You can reverse, zig zag and do the fancy stitches with it as well. It has several different feet that you can get in addition to the straight and zig zag foot that comes with it. I've gotten the 1/4 in and rolled hem one in addition so far. I don't remember what all machines it's compatible but a google search would show it.
I'm pretty sure I can do all those things with my Bernina walking foot. I could not find where the Viking walking foot could be used for machines other than Vikings.

Thanks so much for your reply and suggestions.

Now, those are colors I would not have thought about. I'm not very experienced with colors, so am having a hard time visualizing this. Thanks so much for your reply and ideas.

Thanks for the suggestion. You and some other posters have suggested this color. I'm going to get mine out and see what it looks like. Sure sounds pretty.

Which of the three thread choices below do you like?

Here are three different carmel and honey type threads I have. For some reason, I just can't get the red to appear like the maroon it is.

I would also use black thread.
Perhaps down the middle of each dark strip .
I have found, sometimes stitching in the ditch can be a little challenging, as I jump out a lot.....
Does you walking foot have a guide...if so just find the center of your strip, set your guide and off you go....remember to take your time, no need to sew super fast...in this case you want to be the turtle not the rabbit....take some breaks often, walk away...they go back. do NOT expect to finish in one day....tell yourself its going to take a week....and then when you finish in a couple days you are ahead of the game.....Just take your time, your quilt is beautiful, you have invested a lot of time and effort in it, the quilting is the final touch on your quilt and brings it all together.

Thank you so very much for your wonderful advice. You are so right about taking one's time while doing SITD. It is harder than most think, for sure. That's why I'll often use the Serpentine stitch instead; much more forgiving.

I went to Viking and even though they do show it is for most of thier machines (except Emerald) they of course don't show it for other companies. There was a guy demonstrating it on a video last week and he mentioned other machines but not sure what site it was on or his name. It may be he misspoke when he mentioned other co. I'm not sure. I just got my Viking Ruby and I'm sure glad it comes with it. I have a Kenmore/Janome and when I used my my walking foot I could do alot of the fancy stitches that my machine had. Thanks for your feed back. I will try and see this week if I can find the video that I saw last week. The problem with videos are you go to a site to see one video and while there something else catches your eye that is different and then you aren't sure where you were to start with.

Oh, I do know how dangerous and fun it can be watching sewing videos and then forgetting where you saw the first one, etc. Sure, if you do figure it out, please let us know for those who might be interested. We appreciate your help.
