So I discarded the block bottom. (Not really, I'll find a way to use it.)
Then I measured the block twice.
Then I measured the block bottom that I wanted to cut twice.
Then I cut it once.
This time I got it right!
I anchored the quilt sandwich.
It was still aligned.
I celebrated by walking around the block. The real block, not the quilt block.
WHAT I LEARNED TODAY:
I am insane, but I cured myself. At least for today.
Bigger stitches are easier to take out than smaller ones.
Putting your finger under the needle while it is doing its' job, is dumb and painful. (Just a bruise, thank you!)
It's not true that no one cares whether my quilt is perfect - I DO! But I'm over that. At least for today.
I still can't sew in a straight line. I can't walk one either. No, I don't drink.
It's ok to stitch OUTSIDE the ditch. It's creative. If you do it often enough, people will call it 'art'. I am a skilled artist.
My mother taught me to sew.
She used the 'Here, let me do that!" method...
I want my Mommy!!!!

Cathy, that was just too funny!
It sounds like the kind of evening I've had trying to figure out why my serger (that I've had for 3 years and have finally taken out of the box)won't serge like it's supposed to. It couldn't possibilty be operator error. Well tomorrow is another day and another battle with the serger.

My day was a good one. I finally got my new sewing machine onto my quilting frame. Had to remove some parts of the frame but who cares? There's too much metal on it anyway :)
Then I got some of my stash organized on the bookshelf I found at a yard sale for $8 -- score! I finished marking a queen size quilt for my mom, and noticed I had a block in the wrong way, so unstitched that and fixed it.
Took my son out to the library, and then to dinner.
Oh, and I washed the dog. Now she's so soft and fluffy!!
Phew, this mommy tired.

Loved your day yesterday. Mine was similar. I have 2 days this week where I didn't seem to get anything finished. Yesterday I made a sample quilt block for a Christmas present; didn't like it, so now to find another one I like better. I miss my mommy too, but my mommy's favorite saying was, "Anything worth doing is worth doing well." I think of that every time I try to short cut. I also think of Betty White. One time in an interview years ago she was asked how she keeps trim. She said she takes 3 trips upstairs to get 2 things. That is me.

My day was wonderful. Well I'm talking yesterday-today is just starting. I was able to go to the NW Quilt Expo Portland, OR and spend most of the day walking around with two of our board members. We enjoyed all the quilts and vendors. Did a Costco and grocery shop on the way home. Decided on my way the car should be washed - made a quick right hand turn and- oh so nice- I sat back and relaxed for the three min. during the wash. After the car was unloaded -while putting away the groceries made a quick macaroni salad and then decided to enjoy the last of the 80 degree weather! I then fired up the lawn mower. You all have to realize we live in the country. So at about 4:30 I would mow one lawn since DH wasn't home from working the tasting room yet. Well at 5 he still wasn't home so I thought I could do one more while I still had some energy left. Then 5:30 came around so I kept going and needless to say I was able to mow all three lawns (2 1/2 miles later) Oh they look so nice and ohhhhhhh I was so tired! Had a very eventful day with alot accomplished!

You guus are so funny Today was a week ago my mom who has alizhmers and had to move into an assisted living home last year turned 85, she never sewed so when she lived with me and I started learning quilting I taught her she made quite a few scrapy bed quilts that she machine peiced and hand quilted and I have some of them the other went to grandkids and greatgrand kids but I really feel blessed that we had this time together because now she thinks that I am her sister and that makes me sad, I just wanted to thank this board for all the antidotes about mishaps and mommy stories causey we neve know what wii happen next to momma
