Default About to quilt my first quilt top...have a question.

What quilting design lends itself to batik fabrics and is easy to do for a beginner. I have a lap quilt I'm about to start quilting and would like to do it myself. Need some advise from the experienced FMQ in the forum. Thanks much, Julie

You want to avoid quilting across seams as much as possible. Batik is made of fabric with a tighter weave, so it can be more difficult to hand quilt than other cotton fabrics. Is the batik on both the top and the backing?
