Default Hunters star

I have the rapid fire ruler for the hunters star pattern. I want to use 3 fabrics, I can not find anywhere how much yardage for a 3 fabric quilt top to fit a queen bed.All this pattern info gives is for a 36 x 36.Which is 3/4 yard for each of the 3 colors. Can someone help me with the yardage? Thanks in advance.

There was a huge poster that wrapped my Deb Tucker Hunter's Star Rapid Fire ruler. So how big do you want this queen sized quilt? My targets are 90-92 x 100-108. (I'm downstairs and I'm doing this from memory.)

So 36 times 36 is _______. and 90 times 108 is ______. Then divide the first number into the second one and that will be the factor you take times the 3/4 of a yard.

Hope I didn't lose you. Marcia

A bit of a tall order without actually seeing how you plan to use the three colours. I drew one up in EQ using only 2 colours with 12" blocks - 7x7 makes an 84x84" square quilt. Now it tells me you will need 11 1/4 yards ( 6yds colour 1 & 5 1/4yds colour 2), so if you plan an even amount of each fabric I would go for 4yds of each. This does not include borders or binding, though there will be an extra 1/4yd of each colour.

Yes - the instruction pamphlet with the ruler should have the fabric quantities for each size. Also, there are 2 sizes of this ruler - which are you using?

What does this hunters star ruler set look like? Do you have to have special rulers? I love the quilt someone just made for their grand daughter. May put this on my Quilt List.

It is a special ruler to make the Hunter's Star block. Google Deb Tucker Hunter's Star and you'll find some YouTube videos. There are 2 sizes, each sold separately. Each makes several block sizes, Petite does 5, 6, 7, and 8" finished blocks; large does 7, 8, 9, and 10" finished blocks (so the Large is for bed-size quilts)

Deb's method involves a little bit of waste in that you trim the sub-parts using the ruler, but you end up with perfectly matched points.

You don't need special rulers to make this quilt, and there's a recent discussion about the best way to make it. A number of us prefer this ruler method and some folks like traditional or paper piecing it.

Toogie, you do not need a ruler, there is a pattern on line that uses 1/2 sq.triangles.

Yes, my ruler was included with a large info sheet. But all I have found is 2 color and 4 yards each.I wanted the stars one color and the rest of the quilt top 2 colors. Thank you for the formula.

Thank you, sorry for lack of info, on my part the stars will be one color, with all the rest of the quilt top being the other 2 colors.
